Awareness and Demonstrations on Fermented Organic Manure(FOM)/Liquid Fermented Organic Manure (LFOM)

The overuse of synthetic fertilizers in India has resulted in soil degradation, declining fertility, and environmental concerns. To address these challenges, Fermented Organic Manure (FOM) and Liquid Fermented Organic Manure (LFOM) are being promoted as sustainable alternatives to improve soil health, reduce dependency on chemical fertilizers, and enhance crop productivity.The Central Sector Scheme on "Awareness and Demonstrations for Popularization of Fermented Organic Manure (FOM)/Liquid Fermented Organic Manure (LFOM) through KVKs" is being implemented during 2024-25 across 25 KVKs of Zone X, covering Andhra Pradesh (9 KVKs), Telangana (4 KVKs), and Tamil Nadu (12 KVKs), with financial support of Rs.77.795 lakhs from the Department of Fertilizers (DoF), Government of India.

Special Project on Cotton (SPC)

Special Project on Cotton is implemented in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode by ICAR-CICR, Nagpur with the participation of CITI & SIMA; Seed Industry Associations (NSAI and FSII); Extension partners (Cotton Development and Research Associations of CITI and SIMA; Agricultural Technology Application Research Institutes & their Krishi Vigyan Kendra's); State Departments of Agriculture-ATMA) and Textile partners and Cotton Corporation of India (CCI). The aim of this project was to demonstrate technological options available with ICAR-CICR and other relevant research organisations including private industries to overcome productivity bottlenecks in cotton production in the identified agro-ecological domains.

Model Villages Pulses

The Model Pulse Village (MPV) approach will involve the establishment of pilot villages where best practices in pulse cultivation, processing, and marketing will be demonstrated and disseminated in the village and out scaled in the surrounding areas. Multi-stakeholders from the area of research, frontline extension, seed agencies and farmers' group etc.

Skill FORMATION AND PROMOTION OF 10,000 FARMER PRODUCER ORGANIZATIONS (FPOs)

Formation and Promotion of 10000 Farmer Producer Organizations This is a central sector scheme which aims to achieve inclusive and sustainable transformation through the creation of a holistic and supportive ecosystem for the formation of 10000 FPOs and their nurturing, hand holding and capacity building. This scheme is implemented through the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). Formation and promotion of FPO is based on Produce Cluster Area. NCDC identified 6 Cluster- Based Business Organizations (CBBOs) in this zone of which 4 are KVKs and two are ICAR institutes. Each CBBO established two FPOs under this scheme. No shareholders in each FPO range from 354 to 960. On average, these FPOs have about Rs. 10.48 lakh equity amount. Ten FPOs have office buildings and two are functioning in rented offices. Eight FPOs have owned/hired storage facilities. Eight FPOs have licenses for the marketing of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides.

SBI - CSR Project Promotion of Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) for sustainable rice production in Telangana State

The Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) project was implemented during the Rabi (Yasangi) season of 2024-25 across 4 KVKs of Telangana - Nalgonda (Gaddipally and Kampasagar) and Khammam (Wyra and Kothagudem) in Collaboration with Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR), Hyderabad, with support from the State Bank of India Foundation, local farm organizations and ICAR ATARI, Hyderabad. The primary objective of the project was to promote sustainable agricultural practices and enhance the efficiency of rice cultivation in the region.

Agricultural Drone Project

With the aim to make drone technology affordable to the stakeholders in a major boost to promote precision farming in India, Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has initiated this project under "Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization" (SMAM). This project is operational in 21 centers of ICAR institutes, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and State Agriculture Universities in Zone 10. These centers purchased 32 drones and demonstrating drone technologies to the farmers in their fields.During 2024-25 A total of 2112 demonstrations were conducted in the zone covering 1895 ha area with the participation of 14683 farmers. These demos include insecticide sprays, Micronutrient sprays, weedicide sprays and fungicidal sprays.

Tribal Sub Plan (TSP)

The Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) was implemented by 10 KVKs in zone x during 2018-19, 6 from Andhra Pradesh ( Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam (BCT), Visakhapatnam (Kondempudi), West Godavari (V.R.Gudem), East Godavari ( Pandirimamidi) and Prakasam (Darsi)) and 4 from the state of Telangana ( Adilabad, Nalgonda (Kampasagar), Khammam (Wyra) and Kothagudem). The activities of the KVKs implementing TSP have been covered under four major thematic areas viz., Agri-service center, Micro-enterprises and Skill development training and aim at bridging the gap in socio-economic development between tribal farmers and others.

Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG)

The Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav-MGMG (My Village My Pride) scheme was launched by the Hon'ble Prime minister on 25 July, 2015 on the occasion of the 87 Foundation Day of ICAR at Patna. It is an innovative initiative, which was planned to promote the direct interface of scientists with the farmers to speed-up the lab to land process. The objective of this scheme is to provide farmers with required information, knowledge and advisories on regular basis by adopting villages by group of scientists constituted at the institute and university level. From its beginning, MGMG is implemented with zeal and enthusiasm by the scientific community.

Jal Shakti Abhiyan(JSA)

Government of India has launched Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA)-A water conservation campaign in the country from 1st July, 2019 for creating awareness among all stake holders including farmers on water conservation and rainwater harvesting. The main objective of the programme is increasing the water use efficiency in various sub-sectors of agriculture including cultivation of field crops, horticulture crops, animal husbandry and other allied subsidiary occupations.

Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojna(PKVY)

PKVY a sub-component of Soil Health Management (SHM) scheme under National Mission of Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) aims at development of sustainable models of organic farming through a mix of traditional wisdom and modern science to ensure long term soil fertility buildup, resource conservation and helps in climate change adaptation and mitigation. It primarily aims to increase soil fertility and thereby helps in production of healthy food through organic practices without the use of agro-chemicals.

Skill Development Training Programmes by Agricultural Skill Council of India (ASCI)

Eighty skill training programmes ( including 3 revalidated from 2017-18) under Agricultural Skill Council of India (ASCI) were coordinated by ATARI during 2018-19 with the participation of 35 KVKs, three ICAR institutes (IIOPR- Pedavegi, IIRR- Hyderabad and CIBA-Chennai) and one agricultural university (PJTSAU, Hyderabad). The trainers of the ASCI skill training programmes underwent "Training of trainers (TOT)" during 25-27 September, 2018 at PJTSAU , Hyderabad and 17-19, December at ICAR-ATARI, Kanpur to gain platform and domain skills and to get certified by the assessors of ASCI.

District Agro Met Units (DAMUs)

In accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) entered by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and ICAR for setting up of District AgroMet Units. Orientation training for KVK scientists on preparation and dissemination of agromet advisory services to farmers was held during 1-2 August 2018 at ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad. This training was imparted to 24 nodal officers of District Agromet Units (DAMUs) to be established at KVKs as part of IMD-ICAR collaboration for implementation of Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa (GKMS).
